Michael Buble Goes For Sophisticated Image
Michael Buble was encouraged by his producer to be more like a ''brad Pitt-style movie star'' than the ''dork'' he really is.
Michael Buble credits his producer with turning him from a "dork" to being like a "Brad Pitt movie star."
The 'Cry Me a River' singer was guided in his career by David Foster, whom he says turning his professional life around by steering him away from being a "schmaltzy lounge singer".
He said: "He told me to change my hair, ditch the cliche dinner jackets and polish my act. He wanted me to be more sophisticated, like a Brad Pitt style movie star, rather than some schmaltzy lounge singer. He wanted me to be cool and suave, not the dork I really am."
The Canadian star - who has sold over 25 million albums in his career - may have agreed with David on most things, but one change he refused to make was altering his surname.
He added in his autobiography 'Onstage, Offstage': "He suggested I change my name because he worried they might call me bubble. But I pointed out that if someone with a clunky name like Christina Aguilera could have a successful career, surely Buble could stand up. He relented."
